Fred Dust

ROLE: Founder

ARCHETYPE: The Architect

TAG: The inspiration…and sometimes the comic relief.

Fred Dust is the founder of Dust&Co and works at the intersection of business, society and creativity. As a designer, author, educator, consultant, trustee, and advisor to social and business leaders, he is one of the world’s most original thinkers, applying the craft and optimism of human-centered design to the intractable challenges we face today.

Using the methodology in his book Making Conversation, he has been working as the Senior Dialogue Designer with The Rockefeller Foundation to explore the future of pressing global needs; and with The Einhorn Collaborative and other foundations to host constructive dialogue with leaders ranging from David Brooks, Reverend Jenn Bailey, and Vivek Murthy to rebuild human connection in a climate of widespread polarization, cynicism and disruption. He is also proud to be faculty at the Esalen Institute.  

As a former Global Managing Partner at the acclaimed international design firm IDEO, Fred works with leaders and change agents to unlock the creative potential of business, government, education, and philanthropic organizations.

Lindsey Armeen

ROLE: Chief of Staff

ARCHETYPE: The Compass

TAG: The reasonable voice and coherent touch.

Lindsey Armeen has over 15 years of experience as an executive administrator and project manager across various industries. Her philosophy on supporting senior executives and their teams is driven by the incredible relationships she forms and the understanding that her work has great impact for both individuals and the overall success of an organization. Her depth of work includes event creation and management for small and large convenings, both live and virtual. At Dust&Co, Lindsey manages Fred’s dynamic world across multiple engagements with ease and fluidity, all the while keeping people connected and feeling supported.  

Lindsey lives in Sun Valley, ID where she enjoys a full life in the great outdoors. She is a mother of two, a wife, a daughter and a friend. All of these jobs are equally important and she feels complete when doing all of these things well, while contributing to the joy and happiness of others.

 

Rob Healy

ROLE: Sr. Design Strategist

ARCHETYPE: The Chemist

TAG: Knows a little about what works. Knows a lot about what doesn’t.

Rob’s professional career has spanned from Academia to Hollywood to Tech to Advertising. Rob has an academic background in cognitive neuroscience, media theory, mimetics, complexity theory, and game theory. For the past 5 years, Rob has been actively involved in social awareness campaigns around disinformation, misinformation, ideological polarization, and the health of our information ecosystems.

Rob previously started and ran Superfun Productions—a full scope production company specializing in blending science backed story-telling techniques with psychometric user data in order to help bridge cross-cultural marketing gaps for clients. Superfun has created advertising campaigns for Fortune 500 brands, produced music videos for some of the world's biggest acts, and consulted on award winning documentaries. 

Rob’s personal passions include surfing, skiing, dogs, and figuring out novel ways to get the public excited about science and technology. His writing has been featured in The Startup, the Data-Driven Investor, GQ, Popdust, Playboy Magazine, OneZero, & The Doe.

Nick Dupey

ROLE: Sr. Design Strategist

ARCHETYPE: The Artist

TAG: If it’s beautiful, he made it.

Nick is a creative executive and thought leader with a proven track record of unlocking innovative potential for teams and clients. As a multidisciplinary designer and seasoned professional with over 20 years experience, Nick has worked with a wide range of clients including Ford, Target, Sanofi, City of Boston, American Refugee Committee, Sealy, Sara Lee, MIT, Harvard University and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service.

In his role as an executive director at the award-winning design firm Ideo, Nick coordinated with a global team of directors and partners to oversee creative health and culture for over 700 employees. As a managing director of the Cambridge location, he ran and operated a studio of more than 50 designers and guided the business P&L with a yearly profit between 15-20%.

Nick has been recognized by Ten Show, Print, Type Directors Club, How, and Communication Arts, and his work has been featured in The Cooper Hewitt, the Denver Art Museum, and many international galleries and exhibitions while also serving  as a teacher and lecturer at MIT, Yale University, and Harvard University.

 

Bailey Foote

ROLE: Design Strategist

ARCHETYPE: The Seer

TAG: A master in the art of “noticing.”

Bailey’s professional experience ranges from entrepreneurship, fashion, finance, and healthcare. She has over six years of experience in strategy design and implementation. She has also worked extensively in marketing and operations at startups and large international corporations, including to help build The Line (Assembled Brands) where she oversaw the marketing department and co-led their e-commerce department.

For the past two years, Bailey's focus has been on end-of-life care, which included training as an end-of-life doula. She has an MSc in Strategic Design where she concentrated on modes of human-centered end-of-life planning and lowering barriers to conversations around death and dying. Her personal interests include Formula-1, behavioral science, and wine.

Kate Simonds

ROLE: Communications Strategist

ARCHETYPE: The Voice

TAG: Our finger on the pulse.

Kate Simonds is a creative strategist and researcher from Boise, Idaho. She is passionate about community building and social change, and has worked both stateside and internationally in a variety of impact-driven fields ranging from nonprofit development to political campaigning.

In addition to her roles at Dust & Co., Kate is pushing education reform by scaling One Stone Inc.’s innovative and non-standardized assessment tool, the Growth Transcript. Outside of work, she can be found planning her next trip, scrolling furiously through Twitter, or tending to her many houseplants. Kate earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

Ethan Van Sant

ROLE: Visual Strategist

ARCHETYPE: The Tinkerer

TAG: Give it to Ethan. He’ll figure out how to make it work.

Ethan Van Sant is a user experience designer with a background in speech-language pathology. Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, he moved to Michigan to earn his B.A. in Psychology at Kalamazoo College. After studying and practicing speech-language pathology for 1.5 years, he pivoted towards UX design, earning his certification, and has rekindled a long-burning passion for well-crafted and intelligent design that all started as a kid with LEGO.

When not toiling over work, Ethan travels the world as a competitive miniatures and card gamer, championing strategy and creativity above all else.
